The Department of Romance Languages seeks an individual with excellent time management, organizational, budgetary, communication and supervisory skills to fill its available Department Administrator The Department of Romance Languages offers four-year undergraduate majors in French, Spanish and Italian Studies; a Portuguese language program; minors in several of these areas; and an MA program in French, with a total of one hundred to one hundred twenty courses during each semester of the two-semester academic year. Summer courses are offered as well. The Department has twenty full-time faculty members, one of whom chairs the department, and these are joined each semester by nearly fifty part-time lecturers. A total of over two-thousand students enroll in Romance Languages courses each year, and usually the graduating class of senior majors is just over 85 strong. Staff and faculty work together to promote the Romance Languages majors and minors and make the research and teaching activities of Romance Languages faculty visible.

The Department Administrator will work in concert with the Chair to manage the administrative functions of the Department, maintain its efficiency and productivity, and respond to evolving needs. Specifically, the Department Administrator will:

  • Monitor the department?s budget; make purchases and prepare all accounts payable;
  • Process payroll of faculty as well as all other salaries during the year;
  • Hire, supervise, set goals, and monitor performance of Department staff and student workers; supervise one staff assistant and approximately six work/study students per semester; manage staff performance reviews and handle departmental information
  • Serve as liaison for faculty and Deans? offices and programs on campus; act as pivot-point for all faculty, staff and students in the Department
  • Identify and resolve problems; coordinate intradepartmental activities;
  • Prepare and process visa documents for foreign employees;
  • Develop office policies and procedures and serve as the Department information resource;
  • Coordinate faculty search process and prepare all personnel forms, tenure and promotion cases, faculty reviews, Latin honors and other student awards;
  • Collaborate on Commencement arrangements;
  • Attend event planning and publicity;
  • Discharge administrative duties related to the majors and graduate program;
  • Prepare and analyze information for the Chair.

Basic Requirements:

  1. Minimum of three (3) years of related experience and a Bachelor?s degree OR seven (7) years experience in an equivalent role at Tufts University with proven success in office administration, management of a department budget, staff supervision and a High School Diploma
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Word and Excel)
  3. Strong skills in financial management, human relations, staff supervision, customer service, and communication (oral and written)
  4. Writing and proofreading skills;
  5. Sense of initiative, aptitude for problem solving, sensitivity to cultural differences, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess more than three years of office administrative, financial, and supervisory experience, preferably in a College or University. Advanced computer skills: Graphic and web skills. The ability to operate digital camera, tape recorders, and over-head monitors is highly valued.

Special Work Schedule Requirements: Occasionally, overtime hours are required in order to complete a project or because of Commencement ceremonies or special departmental events.

2 month on-site Web Design Contract (Providence, RI)

The contractor would be responsible for managing the day to day operation of the company’s website in addition to developing new and dynamic content, exceptional designs, and new functionality. You should be driven by creating exciting and functional designs and be driven by the prospect of having your UI/UX work be seen by millions of people on a daily basis. However, given all that, we’re much more interested in you being bright, hardworking and motivated to do something awesome with your work with this summer.

The program will also include exciting learning opportunities that you can only really get at a high-tech start up. You’ll be fully engaged in the high-tech community up in Boston, attending lectures and speaking series with some of the best and brightest minds in the world, joining us at local events where we’re presenting SCVNGR’s novel algorithms or just listening to either bright individuals and organizations tout their achievements. Position Description

Working with the SFFSN Training and Technical Assistance Committee and SFFSN staff, the Training Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the successful planning and implementation of the SFFSN’s training and technical assistance efforts. These activities are designed to support staff who with families to do so most effectively. The position is supervised by the SFFSN Director.

Responsibilities

  • Identify the Technical Assistance needs of SFFSN members and develop plans to address them
  • Coordinate a minimum of 30 workshops, convenings, and other trainings annually for direct service staff
  • Conduct workshops for direct service staff on the SFFSN Family Support Standards and Family Support topics
  • Coordinate the peer mentoring program including recruiting, training, matching, and supporting mentors and mentee organizations
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual Family Support special convening
  • Provide direct technical assistance to members as needed
  • Develop and update training calendars, curricula, materials, registration flyers, and evaluations
  • Research, identify, and develop content for Family Support resource library
  • Provide staff support to the Training and Technical Assistance Committee
  • Provide and update Training and Technical Assistance website content
  • Assist with gathering information for and preparing reports to funders
  • Co-supervise the SFFSN Administrative Assistant
  • Participate in special projects and tasks as they are assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Psychology, Public Policy, Social Work or other related Social Science.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience providing or working in the field of Family Support.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching, training, or mentoring others.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to successfully complete tasks with efficiency and an attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to work effectively with a wide range of people and personalities.
  • Strong verbal communication, writing, and editing skills.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in navigating the Internet and using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) on PC systems.

• Provide services that include evaluation and intervention plans related primarily to communication deficits of the students identified as meeting eligibility requirements for language and speech services

• Develop and lead social skills awareness/pragmatic language groups to enhance social skills training in high school setting
<br>
• Participate in the implementation of IEP’s, behavior plans and related services
<br>
• Prepare and maintain detailed and accurate records and reports according to applicable standards
<br>
• Build trust and confidence with students and parents
<br>
• Provide direct and/or consultation services as defined on the IEP
<br>
• Provide written reports and new goals in draft form for IEP and participate in scheduled IEP meetings
<br>
• Collaborate with other members of Special Education team and participate in Special Education meetings

• Be well versed and able to use a variety of Speech & Language assessment tools, be able to choose appropriate assessment and able to interpret result findings in a comprehensible manner to ensure understanding across IEP team

• Valid California Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential authorizing service as an itinerant speech clinician or speech and therapist; American Speech and Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCS); or valid California Speech Language Pathologist license issued by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board; equivalent credential or authorization

• Passionate, motivated and creative individual driven to devise intervention plan and meet individual needs of adolescents in urban high school setting

• Ability to identify, diagnose and formulate educational, treatment, and remediation plans and strategies

• Evidence of adequate preparation, background and experience for the position, including knowledge of RtI (Response to Intervention)
